Big Spring Farm Wedding | Gabby & Matt
Sometimes, wedding days don’t go according to plan, and this Big Spring Farm wedding was no exception.
For Gabby and Matt, that started before their wedding day had even begun. Just one day before they were set to say “I do,” they unexpectedly found themselves without a photographer. It’s the kind of phone call no couple ever wants to receive, but thanks to an incredible planning team that immediately jumped into action, everything came together beautifully.
Our sweet friend, Jordan, with Snider Events, reached out to see if we could jump in, and somehow everything aligned. Looking back, it’s hard not to believe we were meant to be there. While we never would have wished those circumstances on Gabby and Matt, we truly believe everything happens for a reason. By the end of the wedding, it felt like we had known each other for much longer than twenty-four hours, and I truly believe we were meant to be the ones documenting their day. It was such an honor to step in and tell the story of such an incredible couple.
One thing that stood out from the very beginning was Gabby’s joy.
After everything she had navigated the day before, you never would have known it. She was smiling from the moment we arrived, soaking in every part of her wedding day with so much excitement and gratitude. She was the picture of timeless elegance in her strapless drop-waist gown paired with a delicate neck scarf. It was effortlessly chic and fit the setting of Big Spring Farm perfectly.
One of our favorite moments of the entire day was Gabby and Matt’s first look.
Matt’s reaction was so genuine. As soon as he turned around and saw his bride, the emotions immediately took over. Those quiet moments together before the ceremony were some of the sweetest parts of the day, reminding everyone around them that weddings are about so much more than beautiful details—they’re about the people standing at the center of it all.
And speaking of beautiful…
If you’ve never been to a Big Spring Farm wedding in Lexington, Virginia, it’s truly a hidden gem! Between the rolling mountain views, the peaceful pond ceremony location, and the warm hospitality from the owners, Buddy and Jill, it’s easy to see why couples fall in love with this venue. Every corner of the property feels intentional, creating the perfect backdrop for a timeless Virginia wedding.
The day almost included another unexpected twist.
As guests began arriving, rain was quickly making its way toward the venue. Thankfully, Kenya was keeping a close eye on the radar all afternoon. Knowing the weather window was closing, she made the call to move the ceremony up by about twenty minutes. Because everyone was already there and ready, everything shifted seamlessly, and Gabby and Matt were able to exchange vows beside the pond and the willow trees just before the rain began to fall. In fact, the first drizzle started almost immediately after they shared their first kiss.
It was the perfect reminder of just how valuable an experienced planner truly is. Kenya and the entire team at Snider Events made the day feel effortless from beginning to end, and we couldn’t imagine it unfolding any better.
Another highlight for us was working with Lael Florals for the first time!
Not only were the floral designs absolutely stunning, but they did something we’ve honestly never experienced before. They prepared individual boxes of detail florals specifically for photography, complete with the stems trimmed and the most beautiful blooms carefully selected. It was such a thoughtful gesture that saved us time while allowing us to create even more beautiful detail photographs for Gabby and Matt. It’s those little moments of teamwork that make such a difference, and we can’t wait to work with them again.
We also loved getting to work alongside Meg for hair and makeup. She always does such an incredible job helping brides feel beautiful while creating a calm, joyful atmosphere throughout the morning.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a wedding without a few unforgettable surprises.
Guests were greeted during cocktail hour by donkeys carrying ice-cold beer, which was every bit as fun as it sounds. But the biggest crowd favorite came later that evening. Just when everyone thought the reception couldn’t get any better, Chick-fil-A arrived as the late-night snack. The excitement that spread across the dance floor was unmatched, and honestly, we completely understood the hype!!
Gabby and Matt, thank you for trusting us with one of the most important days of your lives. Even though we met under unexpected circumstances, it truly felt like we were supposed to be part of your story. Your joy, your kindness, and the love you share made this wedding one we’ll never forget.
If you’re planning your own Big Spring Farm wedding or looking for a Virginia wedding photographer, we’d love to tell your story, too.
