KW Ballerina Session Featuring Aleksus, Ellie, and Carsyn

A few months ago, I had time to really think about my dreams for where I wanted this photography journey to take me. You can read about all of that here if you want. I mentioned a new project that was coming in the spring and I am SO excited to finally share!!

When I was two years old, I sat and watched my big sister during her dance class and begged to go in. They didn’t usually let children start until they were three, but because I was so persistent they let me come early. From then on, I danced any chance I got. I was never interested in being on any sports team, I just wanted to dance. Even though those days are over (although I still enjoy dancing around the house and the occasional Zumba class…) I still love everything about dance, and especially ballet. I love the beauty and grace of it, the beautiful lines, and all the flowy costumes. I knew I wanted to incorporate this passion into photography. My goal is to offer high-end GORGEOUS photos for ballerinas that they will treasure for the rest of their lives. I also want to include a few headshots in these shoots for all of their auditions in the future. I so wish I had a photographer who could check to see if my foot was sickled or if my lines were correct when shooting. I had several photos done, but there were many where the lighting and composition of the photo was fine, but I wasn’t technically perfect in my form and so I never loved them. I want to use my years of training to help create flawless images for girls like these!

When planning this idea, I immediately thought of Ellie Boyd. She is simply gorgeous and I knew she would be perfect for the first shoot. I wanted this session to be relaxing and fun, and asked Ellie to bring a few friends. I’m so glad Carsyn + Aleksus joined us because they are both so talented!

Everything about this day turned out more magical than I could have hoped. The girls were simply stunning. They were so comfortable in front of the camera and felt like long-time friends. Ellie’s mom even handmade of of her tutus, and brought pizza for everyone!

We were able to shoot at Athena Farm and Vineyard, and it is incredible. The owner is so hospitable and let us use his golf carts to ride around to different locations on the farm! We scheduled this shoot months ago with no way of knowing what the weather would be like, and it could not have been a more beautiful day. The sun started to disappear behind the clouds at one point, but quickly came back out to give us the perfect glow that I love.

I decided each girl deserved her own individual blog post, but I wanted to share a few of their group shots and of our beautiful location as an introduction. Stay tuned this week to see each of their posts!!
