One of the very cool but also very nerve-racking aspects of being a wedding photographer is building relationships with people from all different circles of life. This is one of my favorite parts, but it can be difficult as well because when a future bride with little mutual friends sends an inquiry, it is so hard to know what they will be like!
As soon as Sarah booked me, I knew she would be a dream to work with. Within a day, she had inquired, signed her proposal, paid her deposit, and scheduled her engagement session! She was SO on top of things. I knew she would be an excellent planner and communicator, which makes my job so much easier. When discussing locations, we were disappointed to find out our first choice was booked for the day we had chosen months ago. Sarah suggested The Resort at Glade Springs, which was a new location for me so of course I agreed. Within minutes Sarah had called to ensure availability and had even planned where she and Chance could change outfits. All of her precise planning and the thought she put into her session really showed through for the best possible photos. Both of their outfit combinations coordinated perfectly, which makes such a difference!
As soon as I met these two they felt like old friends. Chance is so humble and kind. He gently helped his bride-to-be get from location to location, and held her hand as I asked them to climb out on top of a huge rock in the middle of the lake! Sarah is so genuinely sweet, with the most beautiful smile. They met at a church camp, which holds a special place in my heart because I have seen so many sweet relationships start during my years of working at camp.
As we were walking, I asked Chance how he proposed. He casually replied, “I just asked.” I knew there was surely more to the story, and Sarah quickly grinned and filled in the gaps. On Sarah’s birthday, Chance took her to the Cheesecake Factory for the first time, and ended the evening at a beautiful overlook where he asked her to marry him with an engraved Fossil watch she had been eyeing for some time. Because of the scripture 1 Timothy 2:9, their religious beliefs do not allow engagement rings, so he thoughtfully proposed with the beautiful watch instead!
After meeting these two and seeing how sweet they are together, I cannot wait to see them again when they get MARRIED in September!
