The Greenbrier Resort | Weekend Getaway | Valentine’s Weekend 2021

After scheduling a few sessions at The Greenbrier, a beautiful resort in West Virginia, we decided to turn it into a weekend trip (kid-free!) to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I am the worst at remembering to take photos, but wanted to share a mini recap with a few of my phone photos of the trip. Of course we started the trip with our traditional heart-shaped Chick-Fil-A chicken minis. greenbrier wedding photographer Our room was so cute with the famous Dorthy Draper designs. Of course I forgot to take photos when the bed was made nicely and just snapped a quick one while we were rushing to checkout in time, but oh well. It was cute and cozy and so nice to not have to set up a a pack and play and baby monitor and all that usually comes with traveling these days.   We met our friends (& 2020 KWP couple!) to grab some portraits so we’d have more than just iPhone photos. We love these two SO much, and had the best time trying to squeeze in as many photos as we could before dinner and laughing until I cried the whole time. *also, masks were worn the whole time except for in photos and we felt like they did a great job with Covid safety requirements* So thankful for these!!   When we made our hotel reservations and called about dinner reservations, there were NONE available because it was a holiday weekend. As silly as it is, I cried when I found out. And I made Will call every day to check for a cancellation. Finally, there was one for 9:00 pm at the restaurant inside the casino. I said we’d take it, but of course it wasn’t what I had hoped for. Then, by some miracle, when we checked in they told us there was an opening in the main dining hall at 6:00. We were so thankful because the formal atmosphere was exactly what we wanted and the food and service was AMAZING. Will had Filet de Boeuf and I had Merlu Argente’ de l’Atlantique Poelee which we would both recommend!   After dinner we explored the casino, walked around the resort, and just relaxed. It was wonderful to not have an agenda or worry about kids bedtimes! We planned to swim at the pretty indoor pool but decided to just relax instead. We slept in as late as we could and still make it to breakfast in the main dining hall. I have been dreaming about their famous peaches since we started planning the trip. SO good!!   Then we got coffee at the coffee shop and spent the afternoon shopping inside the resort.   We bought more truffles than I’d care to admit and still regretted not bringing home more… I love the cute little chocolate shoppe!  We grabbed a quick brick oven pizza for a late lunch and it was so good!   We loved just strolling around and hanging out and talking without Sonya asking questions and Sawyer needing attention. We love parenting, but we are so thankful for sweet parents who spoiled the kids while we got to hang out together and enjoy a romantic get-away!   If you are looking for somewhere local for a little weekend trip, we would definitely recommend The Greenbrier Resort!

With love,
