Sarah + Patrick | Rockwood Manor, Virginia Wedding

After realizing that I was going to be photographing a wedding in a hurricane, I started checking the weather religiously. They were calling for a torrential downpour, but Patrick + Sarah had no intentions of rescheduling their day.

Then when the day came and we arrived at Rockwood Manor, a beautiful bed a breakfast owned by Sarah’s family, we were amazed to see plenty of clouds but no rain.

I walked into the charming house and up the spiral staircase to meet Sarah. I usually get to know my couples well before the wedding day, but because of the circumstances I didn’t know her at all. As soon as I met her I felt peace about the day. Sarah is one of those people that you just want to be around because she is so kind and full of joy! She also has a classic beauty– which you can clearly see in these photos!! Of course, she had a six-pence in her show for good luck. 

This watch was owned by her great aunt who had also gotten married on the same date at Rockwood Manor many years ago! This lavender was a gift from the groom sent up to help calm her nerves. So sweet!!  Sarah’s mom + sweet sister, Ginny, helped her into her dress and finish up getting ready.   Sarah + her dad sneaking a peak at Patrick before we headed down to the first look!  Oh, how sweet this first look was. These two are so genuine + were so  joyful the whole day.  The rain held off (even though the dark clouds were rolling in) long enough to grab portraits before and I’m so glad because the rain starting pouring down a few minutes after the ceremony!!   I love this one…. you can see that the rain was coming hard and we took this photo and then made a mad dash to the porch!!  This ceremony was so emotional and filled with love. I’m still smiling as I’m writing this because it was such a joy to be a part of! Seriously, how sweet are they???  And they’re married!!   When Patrick + Sarah entered the barn for their first dance, their friends + family surrounded them with bubbles and it was so much fun!   Then they danced + celebrated with their loved ones all night long!

This couple + this day was truly special, and we are just so thankful we got to be a part of it.
