Just engaged and you are on cloud nine but don’t know where to start? Let me help!! I know you have been dreaming of the perfect wedding on your Pinterest board since the day you opened your account… let’s be honest, probably since the day in kindergarten you played dress-up and had pretend weddings in your friends backyard. Or was that just me?? Now that the day is finally here and you are just engaged and have that perfect, sparkly engagement ring on your finger, the emotions are running high. Don’t panic! Here are some tips to help you know where to start.
Enjoy each other.
I know that it can be tempting to immediately start shouting from the rooftops that you are getting MARRIED– but your new fiancé most likely planned this at a beautiful restaurant or one of your favorite places, so take some time to just celebrate the two of you before you let anyone else in.
Call the important people.
I know it can be tempting to want to immediately post that selfie of your new engagement ring and get all the likes from everyone on the internet… but take the time to personally call your mom and grandma and best friend. The most important people in your life will want to hear from you personally and it will mean so much more to them to hear you are just engaged!
Get your nails done.
Treat yourself to a nice manicure; or if you are like me and don’t like having your nails done, then at least get them cleaned and shaped so that when you start showing off that gorgeous ring your friends aren’t distracted with last week’s chipped polish.
Post that selfie!
I know you have been dying to do it. Go ahead and post that selfie with your perfect ring and cutie best friend you get to marry. Just make sure you’ve called the important people first!
Tour venues
I know you might be tempted to choose a trendy date like 02-02-22 or something, but it is so much smarter to check your favorite venue’s availability first and then choose a date! So realistically look at how many guests you plan to invite and start touring venues together.

Hire a planner!
I know you might think that because you loved helping plan your 8th grade prom, that you will love planning your wedding; but there are many professionals who have years of experience working with the best vendors and learning so that your day will run as smoothly as possible. They really take all of the stress off of you and your family and let you enjoy the day.
Here are some amazing planners:
Hire your dream photographer.
Now that you have your venue, it is time to find your DREAM photographer. It will be an investment; but most photographers will set up a payment plan, so if you go ahead and book, your monthly payments will be smaller. This is a great way to get an amazing professional that fits in your budget. Make sure you find someone that is licensed, experienced, has an editing style you like, and a personality you connect with because they will make or break your experience and how you feel in front of the camera!
Enjoy yourself!!
Now that you have your dream venue and photographer, your expert planner should make everything else run smoothly! On average, engagements last for a year and a half, so there is no need to try to plan the entire wedding in the first two weeks!
I know it can be such a whirlwind when you are just engaged, but I hope you take it slow and just soak up every minute of this amazing season in your life!!
