In this video, I walk you through the process of creating your very first photography website. I remember when I built my first photography website; it was a game-changer for my photography business.
Doing this allowed me to showcase my work, connect with potential clients, and establish a brand identity.
Now, I am helping you do the same! We’ll cover everything from choosing a domain name to selecting the right platform. Whether you’re a hobbyist or aspiring professional, this step-by-step tutorial will set you on the path to success.
Here are my THREE tips for building your first photography website (and three things that I wish I knew back then!)
- Purchase Domain. This is something that you will own, and nobody else can take from you. This is different from your hosting site. Example: katelynworkmanphotography.com is my domain. A hosting site is GoDaddy.com or Google Domain (Pssst we don’t recommend BlueHost, we had a pretty bad experience with them – yikes!)
- Choose A Website Builder. Squarespace, Wix, Showit, etc. are all great options. But for us, and many photographers, Showit is the way to go. They have the fastest support chat I have ever seen, easy to drag and drop options and you can easily customize your site.
- Use A Template. A template is a quick way to build a site that looks custom! We LOVE our website template from Davey and Krista. It was so easy to edit, customize and make our own! Choosing a template gave us the foundation we needed to level up our brand.
